NOTD: Antique Bouquet

Ok, so I haven't posted in a while because my grandpa passed away on Monday April 18. It was peaceful and it was his time, but it has still been something that required my undivided attention as I was on Spring Break this past week so I was around the family as much as possible. Anyway, one a more positive note, here's the NOTD!

For this one, I started with Essie Mochacino then added gold medal flowers from Viva La Nails :) they were a lot thinner and more durable than I was anticipating! Then I did some dots in Essie Playa Del Platinum.

Swatches: OPI Burlesque Glitters!

Hello everybody, as you may know, OPI developed a twelve polish collection for the movie, Burlesque, that released in December of 2010. Six of these twelve colors are Glitters, and the other six are Shimmers. I have collected all six of the Glitters, and am working on the Shimmers. For now I will post swatches of the Glitters, and if I ever complete the Shimmer half of the collection, I will probably post those to the blog as well. Here we go! :) This half of the collection takes two coats to become opaque and looks awesome in the sun! :) None of these pictures really do the glitter justice unfortunately...

This first one is called OPI Show It & Glow It! This is a mostly purple glitter polish with some silver, blue, gold, green, and red glitter pieces mixed in.

Next up is OPI Simmer & Shimmer. This one, much like the one before, contains multi-colored glitter, but the main color this time is blue!

Here are some natural sunlight pictures:

Next on the list is OPI Bring on the Bling! This one also has the multi-colored glitter, but is mainly gold. :)

And agin, here are some photos under natural sunlight.

This next one is OPI Extra-va-vaganza! This one is much like the other three, but the main color is a rusted, penny-like orange :)

Next, we have OPI Glow Up Already! This one is also like the others, but the main color is green :)

Last, but certainly not least, is OPI Sparkle-icious. This one doesn't have one particular base color, but instead is a mixture of the gold, blue, and purple glitters. Other bloggers have been calling this one Marti Gras in a bottle, and I have to say I agree :)

NOTD: Prom Nails! :)

So tonight is Junior Prom night for my sister's high school, so I did her and two of her friends' nails for prom. I did her friend Olivia first. I started with your traditional white tip manicure, then painted the corners with Sephora Perfectly Plum to match the color of her dress. Then I did a silver line with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: Celeb City. To finish it up, I added ULTA Glacier for a sheer shimmer finish! (it's hard to see in this picture, but it's there haha) :)

For my sister's i used NOX Twilight Citrus then stamped the lace from Konad plate m57 in white, and added little rhinestones in the middle! :) So the base color matches exactly with her dress and the dress is  also decked out in jewels so the rhinestones fit perfectly!

And last but not least, my sister's friend Hayley! So for miss Hayley's nails, I started with Zoya Freja to match her dress. Then sponged from middle to tip with OPI Sparkle-icious, and at the very tip with OPI Bring on the Bling. :)

Have fun at prom tonight you guys!!! <3

NOTD: Spring has Sprung!

So in anticipation of Easter, and for the longing of the arrival of Spring, I painted my sister's nails in a Springtime theme. :) We started with Essie Sweet Talker, then painted on some grass at the cuticles with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: Going Green. I used that same color and Konad special polish in white with the m66 stamping plate to put flowers on her thumbs and middle fingers. (I meant to put them on her ring fingers, but it was 4am so I messed up haha :P) Then I sliced of little butterflies and dragonflies from my fimo stcks and glued one to each nail to complete the look! :)

And here's a photo in natural sunlight:

Out of the Vault: Gold and Glamorous

I started this manicure with twi coats of Essie Playa Del Platinum then I sponged on OPI Rising Star from the middle to the tip of the nail. Then I sponged OPI Take the Stage on the very tips. Then I stamped flowers from the Konad m57 stamping plate with Sinful Colors Black on Black. For some added flair, I stuck on some rhinestones in the middle of the larger flowers. Wish I had built my light boxes before doing this one haha oh well... enjoy :)

NOTD: Blue Bamboo

This is my sister's hand, and this is her design too! :) I just executed her plan. Yay teamwork! :D I love my sissy!
Here is an up close version of her thumb.
So for this manicure, we started with love & beauty Avocado, then sponged Forever 21 Green on the tips of the nails. Then we stamped parts of the bamboo from Konad stamping plate m66 in Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle: Forbidden Fudge. On the thumbs, we also added the little girl image from the same stamping plate using Sally Hansen Nailgrowth Miracle: Divine Wine. enjoy :)

NOTD: Globe Trotting

Allow me to preface this post by saying that it looked a lot better in my head because free hand painting turned out to be much more difficult than I was anticipating. I attempted to paint each nail to look like the flag of a different country. With that said, enjoy :)

So let's start with the left hand!

Left Pinkie: Germany
Ok, so I started with ULTA Sun-Sational (in hindsight I think I would have used Sinful Colors Cloud 9), then I painted the red stripe with ULTA Red Carpet Red, and finished it off with Sinful Colors Black on Black for the black stripe.

Left Ring Finger: Japan

This one is China Glaze White on White with a poorly painted circle using ULTA Red Carpet Red.

Left Middle Finger: France
For this one, I started with China Glaze White on White, then did the stripes on the sides with Essie Mesmerized and ULTA Red Carpet Red.

Left Index Finger: Ghana
Ok, for this one I started with ULTA Sun-Sational, then did the stripes with Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: Going Green and ULTA Red Carpet Red. Then I stamped the black star using the Konad m3 plate and Sinful Colors Black on Black.

Left Thumb: United States of America
This one, yet again, started with China Glaze White on White. Then I did the blue square with Essie Mesmerized and the stripes with ULTA Red Carpet Red. Then I added little dots for the stars with a Sally Hansen White Nail Art Pen.

And now for the right hand!

Right Thumb: Bulgaria
I started this one with, you guessed it, China Glaze White on White! Then used ULTA Red Carpet Red and Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: Going Green for the stripes.

Right Index Finger: Finland
So I started with China Glaze White on White and painted the blue cross with Essie Mesmerized.

Right Middle Finger: Ireland
This one didn't turn out very well...it smudged while drying, and I couldn't get a very good  picture of it, but I started with China Glaze White on White and used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear: Going Green and Sinful Colors Cloud 9.

Right Ring Finger: Botswana
I started this one with Essie Coat Azure, then painted the black stripe with Sinful Colors Black on Black.

Right Pinkie: Chad
Last, but not least, for this nail I started with ULTA Sun-Sational, then used Essie Mesmerized and ULTA Red Carpet Red for the stripes!
